Everest University in South Orlando

Everest University’s South Orlando campus is located in the Greater Orlando metropolitan region in Florida and serves both Orange and Osceola counties. This vibrant, active campus aims to create a successful learning environment for students and faculty alike.

Opened in 1987 as Orlando College, this campus is one of Everest's largest facilities with 60,000 square feet on just one floor and stretching approximately a quarter-mile long from end to end.

Community Efforts

Each year the staff and students, including the student ambassadors, observe and participate in a variety of awareness and fundraising activities including:

  • National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
  • Toys for Tots
  • Holiday food drives for students and those in need in the community
  • Orange County Education Foundation's Golf Tournament (platinum sponsor)
  • Orange County Education Foundation's Read to Succeed (Ambassadors go into the elementary schools and read to the kids)
  • When available, participation in the Florida Workforce Development program for those trying to re-establish themselves in a new career
  • And more…

High School Initiatives

In an effort to bring awareness of Everest University programs and activities, the South Orlando campus is working with local and alternative high schools with presentations by campus representatives as well as busing students to the campus for a day of activities and tours.

Community and Program Related Initiatives

South Orlando's health care students participate in a variety of community events. In addition to observing several health care observances, both in October, the campus supports the community in other ways as throughout the year.

  • Medical Assistant students work with local physicians to perform physicals for a variety of health activities
  • Massage Therapy students provide massages at such events as Make A Wish Foundation where kids and parents stay
  • Massage Therapy students also provide a courtesy service to local high school track and field events
  • Employees participate in the annual OUC Half Marathon & 5K and the Elf Classic Running Festival events each year

  • February: Valentine’s Day — cards and candy passed out
  • March: Saint Patrick's Day — "Wearing of the Green" with themes or costumes
  • October: Halloween Spooktactular costume party for campus and high school students
  • October: Fright Night Haunted House inviting students from local high schools
  • November: Thanksgiving potluck for employees
  • December:
    • Various campus-based Holiday activities
    • Angel Tree Toy Drive by the student ambassadors (sponsoring local families)
    • Everest's version of American Idol with winner performing at graduation

Online Courses Available

Whether on campus, online or both, Everest has program options to fit your schedule. (Not all programs are available online. Programs and schedules vary by campus.)

Campus Resources

Campus resources available to students include:

  • Library with computer availability open from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Tutoring available, as needed during the hours of 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Study groups available from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Campus bookstore offers supplies and is open:
    • Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
    • Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
    • Closed on weekends
  • Two student lounges with vending machines offering food and beverage options

Parking

Campus parking relieves the stress of having to look for a parking spot with a on-site no-cost parking lot adjacent to the campus.

Security

We're committed to making sure our campus is safe and that you find the support you need every step of the way. We offer the following campus security benefits:

  • Campus security guards patrol the campus from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on weekdays

Directions

Directions from Orlando: Take Interstate 4 west bound and exit 80 on the left to merge onto (South Orange Blossom Trail. Turn right onto (FL-482 W) W. Sand Lake Rd. Continue to follow FL-482 W. and turn left onto John Young Parkway (Route 423/CR 423) and then turn right at Southpark Center Loop. 

Directions from Kissimmee/St. Cloud: Take (FL-600 E/US-17 N/US-441 N/US-92 E) N Orange Blossom Trail, turn left onto Central Florida Pkwy Turn and make a right at John Young Parkway (Route 423/CR 423). Continue driving and turn left at Southpark Center Loop.
